Green Light, Yellow Car, Church Steeple

Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher who was considered to be a central figure of modern philosophy. Once he stared at church steeples, theorizing about reality. In the book The Great Gatsby, Nick stared at Gatsby's house "like Kant at his church steeple, for half an hour." This suggests that he was thinking about reality and what would happen in the future due to current events. He was thinking about what would happen with Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby and who would Daisy choose. The yellow car has a lot of information to it. It ran over Myrtle and it kept Wilson from finding out about his wife cheating. Both of these parts of the book have a significance to them.
