Reservation Blog

School can be very restrictive to people in many ways. One major limitation are the amount of people we meet. Most of our friends and acquaintances will be from only the school and so it can restrict one form meeting others and expanding their social life. One also to follow rules and do things that he/she may not be interested in. Many classes will teach things that students will never pursue or even need to use ever again.  Another problem, and perhaps the biggest, is the need to blend in, as to not be ostracized by others. In order to be part of this world, one has to receive a education, which means doing certain things he/she may not want to participate in. Finally, school also restrict on what others want to do, but it conflicts with the schedule.

Native Son Blog

Max was the lawyer charged with the responsibility to defend Bigger for, what the whites saw as, a murder and rape of 2 people. Max stated that Bigger was forced into a life he doesn't have control over, causing them to resort to violence and crimes to sustain themselves in these horrible positions. Max aims to have the court see Bigger from his angle, rather than one of a blood thirsty person. Bigger knew, when he was in Mary's room that if he didn't quite Mary he would have a high likely hood of being killed, so he tried to better situation. However, Bigger executed crimes that in any society, would be severely punished and he got the death penalty.

Green Light, Yellow Car, Church Steeple

Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher who was considered to be a central figure of modern philosophy. Once he stared at church steeples, theorizing about reality. In the book The Great Gatsby, Nick stared at Gatsby's house "like Kant at his church steeple, for half an hour." This suggests that he was thinking about reality and what would happen in the future due to current events. He was thinking about what would happen with Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby and who would Daisy choose. The yellow car has a lot of information to it. It ran over Myrtle and it kept Wilson from finding out about his wife cheating. Both of these parts of the book have a significance to them.

The story is mainly about Jaine finding herself. This can be seen in the amount of relationships she goes through. She isn't happy in any of them and so continues on, trying to find one to fit her.Through these relationships she learns more about herself. Finally when she meets Tea Cake it seems to be that she finally found her identity. However, until it is found out what had happened to tea cake, she may still be searching for herself. Jaine hated how Nanny had controlled her and kept her from doing what she wanted. This could be a source of her need to find herself and restless relationships. In both relationships she had left, she did not like the way she was treated. On her journey to find herself, more about her and Zora Hurston is revealed because Jaine is ment to represent her.

Thankful for a Classmate

This year I am thankful for many things. Among those are my friends in my English class. Eric is a really funny guy and a good friend to have, especially since we have so many classes together this year. We both share similar interests and work well together in class. He has a great personality to compliment all of this.

I am also thankful that Rivka is in my class because she is super smart and funny. Every year since 7th grade she has been in at least one of my classes, usually Spanish, however this year she is in my English class. We often do group work together, which we complete super fast.

Finally, I would like to thank Adam and Sally for making the class more fun and lively with their endless questions and comments. Without them the class would not be as great.
Thank you everyone for making up this wonderful class, I hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!

Principles to Keep

I think the most important principle to keep are morals. They are what make us human. They set standards for us; something to follow bye. Like guidelines morals keep us civilized and are usually an unwritten set of beliefs of what a person thinks is right. Morals can make us caring to others, which is needed in the world in the Road. In fact, they characterize us and shape us to who we are. If people kept the same morals they had before the apocalypse, they would be caring to each other and helpful. This would prevent many of the deaths that run rampant in the world. Therefore, morals are essential and should be kept.
